World Book Day

We had a fantastic time on Thursday celebrating everything to do with World Book Day! All of the children looked amazing as they dressed up as word. It was wonderful for their vocabulary development as we all tried to work out what the words were. We had fatigued, discombobulated, brave and wicked. We also had a really successful Book Swap, where children had the opportunity to swap preloved books for something new and exciting.

Year 3 and 5 went into forest school to buddy up and read with each other. It was so lovely to see them all out in the sunshine sharing books together, and Reception and Year 1 teamed up to go on a character hunt outside!

We hope all children enjoy their new book and would like to thank both children and parents for supporting World Book Day so rhapsodically (enthusiastically😂).

Grand Theatre Workshop

Year 2 took part in an imaginary settings session around the story 'A Christmas Carol'. The children were immersed into settings from the tale using practical, drama-based techniques. They all had a lot of fun and the children showed fantastic imagination and super acting skills to bring each setting to life!

Reading Buddies

This afternoon was Year 2 and Year 5's first Reading Buddies session. Reception and Year 3 also had their first Reading Buddies session.

All the children listen and read to each other beautifully!

Now Press Play

Children across the school have started trialing a program called Now Press Play, which allows the children to go on an exciting adventure and use their imaginations to reenact a story. The children loved the experience, and if they haven't had a turn yet, they will over the next few weeks.

Above you can see Beech class enjoying their turn in the sun and some children from Elm class completing their adventure in the hall yesterday!

Reading Buddies

Year two and five enjoyed their reading buddies session. Year two shared their poems they had written and year five read books related to the year two's learning topics

Reading Buddies

Year 2 shared their descriptive fire poems with their Year 5 reading buddies this afternoon! They also enjoyed listening to their favourite books being read aloud by Year 5

Visit from Cathy Harris

We have been lucky to have a visit from the author of Dylan Just Couldn't Do It, Cathy Harris. We enjoyed a whole school assembly and year two and three had a great Q&A opportunity.

Learning About Speech

Year 3 enjoyed learning about speech today and using pasta as inverted commas

World Book Day

Oak class started #WorldBookDay with some booking tasting! Our classroom turned into the Book Bistro and we all got to tuck into a range of different books! #WBD2023

Our Planet Poems

Inspired by the topic of Our Planet and the fantastic work of Sir David Attenborough, Oak class have written some fantastic emotive poems. They wanted to share these with David Attenborough so wrote a class letter to tell him about their learning!
