SIAMS

As a Church of England School, St Oswald’s has regular SIAMS inspections, as well as OFSTED inspections. All Church of England dioceses and the Methodist Church use the National Society’s framework for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) under Section 48 of the Education Act 2005. The focus of a SIAMS inspection is on the Christian vision of a church school. It also looks at the quality of collective worship and RE.

The principal objective of a SIAMS inspection is to evaluate the distinctiveness and effectiveness of the school as a church school. The Evaluation Schedule that the inspectors follow centres on one inspection question: How effective is the school’s distinctive Christian vision, established and promoted by leadership at all levels, in enabling pupils and adults to flourish?

Most recent inspection

Our most recent SIAMS inspection was in May 2019. The school was judged as good.
