Jorvik and Dig trip for Year 5
Year 5 had a fantastic day in York. We visited Jorvik and Dig where the children had a 'Battle Tactics' workshop and had the chance to be archaeologists!
Sponsored walk
The whole school took part in a sponsored walk for @simonotstreets. The children walked from school, along the old railway line, through Nunroyd park and back to school. As a school we raised a huge £905.10 which will go towards helping the charity greatly.
Maya Day
Year 6 had a fantastic Maya Day! We were visited by the Maya warrior ‘Big Nose’ who taught us all about the ancient Maya civilisation.
Walking Nativity
Year 1 to Year 6 did a wonderful job at performing scenes from the Christmas story as part of our walking nativity. Starting at the school gates and moving through the school, the children really brought the Christmas story to life.
DIY Christmas trees
During our Christmas day celebration morning, KS1 made their own Christmas tree at forest school. They learnt about safety when using the tools and how to tie the branches together. They also made the most beautiful Christmas pictures from natural materials.
Year 4 trip to the Bagshaw Museum
Year 4 had a great day out at the Bagshaw Museum learning all about Ancient Egypt! They had the chance to exploring an ancient Egyptian tomb and marvel at the very rare complete cartonnage mask, the face of an Egyptian woman presented to the gods in the afterlife. They learnt about the process to preserve the body after death and admire the jewellery, cosmetics and mirrors, as well as learning what ancient Egyptians ate, the textiles they wove, and how they recorded their lives.
St Oswald’s Church Tree Festival
Here is the super St Oswald’s entry at the church tree festival. The theme this year is sustainability. If you get chance, please go and have a look at the children’s fantastic handmade plastic free tree decorations 🎄
